Description

  • he Traktor X1 Mk3 by Native Instruments is a versatile DJ controller designed to integrate seamlessly with Traktor Pro DJ software. It offers powerful features like color-coded controls, tactile surface markers, and expanded connectivity, making it a valuable tool for both newcomers and experienced DJs. The X1 Mk3 enhances DJ setups with or without turntables and can command an entire set on its own. It also includes Traktor Pro software, allowing users to take advantage of its full range of musical performance features right out of the box.

Transport, loop and library controls

The bottom section of the Traktor X1 Mk3 controller features transport controls, including Play and Sync buttons that are now more spaced apart on decks 1 and 2. This section also includes buttons for cue, reverse, beatjump, and hot cues. The additional row of buttons is possible due to the removal of the touch strips from the previous X1 Mk2 model.

FX controls

The Native Instruments Traktor X1 Mk3 includes an official mixer mode, acknowledging its popular use as a mixer in the past. When you activate this mode by pressing the hamburger button, the four knobs control the three-band EQ and volume, while the buttons handle channel kills and headphones on/off. This mixer mode can also be switched to control decks three and four, adding more versatility to the setup.

Mixer mode

A big use case for X1 controllers in the past by DJs has been to map the controls to use the unit as a mixer. NI has acknowledged this by making it an official mode. When you tap the hamburger button to move to mixer mode, the four knobs now control three-band EQ and volume, and the buttons control kills and headphones on/off for each channel. It can also be switched, like the transport, to mix decks three and four.

Lighting

The underside of the unit has LED lights, which aren’t just to make it look pretty. They offer several ways of feeding back to you too. For instance, when a deck slips out of sync, its “side” goes red (as does the sync button). When a deck is nearing the end, its “side” flashes. And when you’re in a loop, that channel’s side turns green (same as the loop colour in Traktor software).
